THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI by ROBIN SHARMA
BOOK REVIEW: 4 stars out of 5.
THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI...hahaha..the title is hilarious...What kind of monk owns a Ferrari in the first place? The title grabs the attention of the reader. I am sure that most of the readers picked up this book, just by looking at the title. After reading the book, I realized that the title justifies the story. It is a self-help book told in the form of a fictional story - a conversation between Julian Mantle, a successful lawyer, and his junior. During his office hours, Julian Mantle suffers a heart attack due to excessive work stress and gets hospitalized. After his recovery, he ventures on a journey of self-discovery to the Himalayas and meets the sages of Sivana. They teach him the seven virtues and make him promise that he will pass on their teachings. Their teachings include the heart of the rose exercise, the ritual of waking up early, the ritual of solitude, and so on. The ritual of abundant knowledge stresses the importance of reading books on a daily basis.
The writing is simple and easy to understand. I loved the teachings mentioned in this book, although I disagree with his notion of eating only vegetarian food as a prerequisite for a good healthy diet. I am willing to explore other books by this author. I would recommend this book to everyone.
